LOVE #2♡:EMOTIONS

Before you start this,I want you to understand that salvation is about growth.Growth in your relationship with God.Being saved doesn't mean that at that moment you will become perfect and free from all temptation and sin but it is a heart change.Which means that you have decided to incline your heart to The one who created you, acknowledge that He sent His son to save you from sin and ultimately death, pursue a relationship with Him and let Him mould you to the person that He wants you to be.

So don't be discouraged or disappointed when you fail or fall or if you feel you are not progressing but trust in Him to help you grow in his word.

Ephesians 4:27

"...and do not give the devil a foothold."

Foothold:a secure position in which further progress may be made.

That means, giving the devil a chance to pursue you further and bring you farther from God.

Paul wrote to the people of Ephesus to not let anger control them because he knew that anger gave a foothold to the devil. It gave sin a chance.Which also means,we are more prone to sin under the influence of our negative emotions.

I have always let my emotions control me.When I was happy,I treated people well,I prayed more, read the Bible more. But when I was sad or angry or things weren't going too well for me I let that affect how I lived and most importantly I let it affect my relationship with God.I treated people poorly because I was in a bad mood or I was angry or sad and that was horrible.

That was me giving the devil a foothold. That was me letting him manipulate me into doing the things he wanted me to do so as to drive me farther away from God,from people, and progress.

Let's switch our perspective to Jesus.
When He went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray,He told Peter,James and John that his soul was crushed with grief to the point of death.(Mark 14;33-36)

He went to God in prayer and told Him that since He was God,everything was possible for Him.He prayed for the cup of suffering to be taken from Him and even after this plea,He still prayed for God's will to be done.

Jesus felt emotion,He felt grief. But instead of shutting Himself off,He went to God in prayer and He acknowledged God's power and His ability to change any circumstance. And in His grief,He still prayed for God's will to be done, not His.He didn't let the emotion control Him and in the end,He fulfilled His purpose.

Let us learn to imitate How Christ lived His life.Living not for Himself, but for the will of God.This is why He is sitting at the right hand of God's throne.Because He didn't let flesh control Him,He didn't let emotion control him,But he let God reign in His life.

♡1st John 3:20:Even if we feel guilty,God is greater than our feelings and He knows everything.

God is truly greater than whatever you're feeling right now.He is greater than the guilt, the shame, the anxiety, the fear, the doubt, than any of your weaknesses.

He is greater.

Be reminded that when Moses told God that He was not a good speaker when He was sent to Egypt,God answered him..,"Who makes a person's mouth?Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see?Is it not I the Lord? Now go!I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what you say."(Exodus 4:11)

So,BELIEVE IN HIS POWER.Believe in His ability to help you overcome.Don't let your emotions control you and keep you from your purpose.
